We had our fridge replaced through Hoffman. During this visit, one of technicians turned off the water line to our dishwasher. They didn?t turn it back on or tell us they did this. When we tried to run the dishwasher it caused severe damage due to overheating and filled our kitchen with smoke and an intense burning smell. Our dishwasher is next to our gas stove and gas line. If we had not noticed the issue fast enough to stop it, then it could have burned our house down and killed our family. Upon reaching out to Hoffman they refused to take any responsibility for their actions. They told me it was impossible for my dishwasher to have started a fire and suggested that my wife and I just imagined all the smoke in our kitchen. All damages they denied being from the fire since we didn?t have photos of the inside of our dishwasher before they arrived to install our fridge. Ultimately Hoffmans negligence resulted in a $2,300 fridge costing us an additional $1,300 in repairs

The "technician/salesman" Eric could not replace a simple furnace motor. He said he couldn't find the motor number, but instead tried to sell me a new furnace. I told him no so he left. I spent a few minutes in the internet and found a motor at Grainger and replaced it myself. Hoffman charged me $95 for what was in reality a sales call.

Repair man could not recognize the part that fell out of my ice maker that was taped on the door of the refrigerator at eye level. I can hear the ice maker cycling, yet he said its a broken wire in the door that is non replaceable. SO if there is a broken wire why is the ice maker cycling. He never checked for a frozen water line. Hmmmm. Then there is the issue with the intermittently working light in the freezer. He quoted 385.00 and never opened the freezer door to find the frozen food item pressing on the light pressure sensor. Hmmmm?. Then, I get a text asking to verify a service call for the freezer light that was never authorized. I was told that the 385.00 light was ordered and there would be a 35.00 restocking fee to cancel the call. Hmmmm. Ripped off 3 times!. There service calls are 95.00 just to let you know they can not repair or change a light bulb!@! Do not use this company. The only reason I called them is that Hoffman Brothers installed the HVAC in my new home. I won't be calling them for any service repairs for anything ever!@!

Had Hoffmann come by 10 months ago to fix an oven. Overall price was about $800 for parts and labor. This weekend the exact same issue appeared and even though I was promised a one year parts warranty, Hoffmann refuses to give me the replacement piece unless I let there tech come out and charge me an additional $600 to replace it. I would just replace it myself if they would give me the part, but I'm not spend a total of $1400 on an oven in a 10 month span. So frustrating that the "Hardware Warranty" comes with the the requirement to spend an additional $600. So scammy. I will never trust Hoffmann in my home again.

After having very positive experiences in the past, I was extremely disappointed when Hoffmann Brothers overcharged me to replace a washer. They've been unable or unwilling to produce an itemized invoice, saying "that's not how we do it," so I'm left guessing as to how much I was actually charged for the washer itself. As best I can tell (based on the MSRP for the washer) I was charged somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 for the removal of the old machine and installation of the new one--easily double or triple what you'd pay for those services from any other company. I've had several cordial phone calls, but none have led to any real resolution. I'll never use them again.

After 2 appointments and $95 I am right where I started. I called Hoffman because I have a weird refrigerator and could not find a replacement for the gasket on my freezer. I gave them the product information and the tech showed up without a replacement gasket or replacement freezer door. He, instead, suggested that the problem was that I needed to thaw out the freezer completely. Of course, this was ill advised and after a second appointment they finally looked up the info that I gave them from the beginning and determined that they could not fix the issue. I was informed that, even though I told them I wanted the gasket replaced, that the $95 was for the technician's time. If Hoffman is paying their techs $95 per hour to hand out quality advice like "thaw out your freezer" then sign me up. At best, Hoffman was just too lazy to do their research before my appointment. At worse, they knew they couldn't fix my issue and sent a tech to justify charging me $95.

It's always top notch they handled it in annual basis and they have a reasonable price for maintenance.

I paid $139 for a "free" estimate. The serviceman came on time and was neat and professional. He spent about 5 minutes looking at but never touching my water heater, then excused himself and went back to his truck for about 30 minutes. He reappeared with 5 separate estimates ranging from about $200 to do the 5-10 minute procedure (as shown on Utube) to verify what he guessed was the problem to over $2,000 to replace the water heater which probably wasn't necessary. They did inform me when I made the appointment that there would be a $139 charge and I agreed. They did not tell me that anything they actually did would cost more and they did not explain why the cost was more than the $89 fee advertised on their website.

Everything went well with Hoffman Brothers. When bidding the job, they presented us with a few options, depending on what we wanted. They also helped us identify points where the project could go sideways so we weren't surprised. The day they started, they identified some new conditions that could have impacted the time and cost of the project. Again, they helped us understand the situation so we could make an informed decision. At the end of the project, everything had gone as originally planned! The work looks great, and now we don't have to worry about the broken sewer line anymore! They were professional, thorough, and communicative.

Andy came out on Sunday afternoon. Discovered fan motor was burnt out. Replaced and was done in less than 2 hours. He was thorough, explained what was wrong with the unit, gave me the prognosis on how long the unit would probably last having the motor replaced. Very friendly, informed, prepared and all around great guy who gave superior service. Couldn't be happier.

We would for sure hire Hoffman Brothers! I called with the problem of our water heater. Installed not even 6 years ago by other company. ( that we would never call back again) They visited our home that evening. They gave a bid on a New Water Heater. We were so impressed on the details of the quote, we asked for a quote on a new furnace and a/c unit. Came out two days later and installed everything in a day and a half. They moved the lines out of way to make it safe for children. Our basement was cleaner after they left than before the installment.

Technician was on time. Very professional and replaced the pipe with quality parts but was overcharged. They replaced an elbow and one pipe in about 10 minutes. Was charged a $95 service charge even though I told them I had a hole in the pipe. Then charge $395 for the repair. Maybe $50-60 worth of parts and 10 minute repair time? $490 was way too much.

I contacted Hoffman Brothers to get a BID for relocating a light switch and outlet from one wall to another because we are going to take out a section of wall. When I called them requesting a BID, the woman said that this work is considered a service call and they would complete the work on the same day. I thought that would be convenient so I set up an appointment for May 21st. They couldn't give me a time or a window, just that they would call at 10am to give us an update on how the electricians were moving along and give us an ETA at that time. So my wife took off work to be home that day and I received a call around 10am stating that all the work the electricians were doing that day was taking longer than expected and that no on was coming out to the house. They offered a $25 discount for the inconvenience so I rescheduled. I earliest they could get me in was 9 days later on the 30th and I would be the 2nd appointment for the day and guaranteed someone would come out. I hesitantly agreed because I had a discount in hand and I have heard all the commercials and live endorsements on the radio. I thought there had to be something behind all the talk. So my wife took off another day from work with the guarantee that an electrician would show up. The electrician did show up and walked around for 5 minutes and said that the attic was too small for his large frame. He told us that we would have to cut out the drywall and then they could send a smaller individual out to give us a BID for the work. So to recap, the original BID that I requested, and was told was not needed because the work would be completed the same day, still hasn't been produced. So 2 weeks later, $70 and two vacation days wasted and we are still at square one. This has been a horrible experience and I would not recommend doing business with this company.

8 years ago I had them do all their "science" and replace everything (heat & cool) with max top of line that could go in my house. Previous 15 years in house that I had built was perfectly fine with great cooling and heat from previous system. New system was terrible from day 1, I complained from day 1, they ignored me, and sent various people out to check the thermostat, and check this and that and keep delaying me. I told them the VERY first summer and every year after than, and paid them to come check over and over many times, that the cooling wasn't working well at all. My previous old A/C did a much better job. They always claimed nothing was wrong and ignored me. So, last year, they worked on the unit, and messed around and actually took Freon out, and then the guy said "oh I forgot to put some back in", he connected some line, didn't measure anything with any gauges, just "hey, I'll squirt some stuff in". I literally watched him the whole time without blinking. I knew the unit would not work this summer and sure enough it doesn't. So, I had a new guy come out, that just does the work, no fancy "company of tons of employees and lots of paper work and fancy sales people", and he said yes, the Freon was low, and the unit is undersized for my house (my neighbor with same house has 5 ton, and they put 3.5 in). Also, I didn't need a stupid heat pump to just wear out the unit either. Also, I don't need all that fancy outdoor tracking unit with batteries you have to replace so the dumb thing can even work - it's all a bunch of hooey! I'm 55 now, and I've learned the hard way. I've had several units in multiple houses through the years, and I know when the A/C is broken. I know when it's not cold enough coming out of the vent by just putting my hand there. This is NOT rocket science. I know when the unit is too small for the job. It's common sense. Hoffman never once worried one moment about anything after they got 8 or 9K from me, they just ran for the hills, and charged me everytime they came out for me to complain. I was a fool. My Dad was right - he told me they were scamming me. My 80 year old Dad said, you are getting ripped and buying all these fancy systems, when you just need a good A/C. That's it. He was right. So, now I'm doing what my Dad said. Don't call Hoffman. They don't care about anything but trying to get your money and then sign you up to pay every month/year for the rest of your life to "care" for this caddilac system. Well if it's so caddilac, then why doesn't need all this money spent on it every 6 mos. forever, when you can get any old A/C and plug it in, and it just works for years by itself? Hmmmmmm. Dad was right.

The workman did the necessary diagnostics on the washer and concluded that he couldn't fix it for a price that would be less than the cost of a new machine. I really appreciated his giving me an honest assessment. He also gave me advice about the sort of new machine to purchase. I plan to contact this company about other work that we need to have done at our house.

Cole from Hoffman Brothers came out, ran a few tests on the refrigerator, and determined quickly that the control board had gone bad. The refrigerator was freezing up as the defroster was not working. He ordered a new control board, and when it cam in several days later, he came back and installed it. Cole did a great job on this repair, and I hope the next time I need help, they send someone like him again, he was a pleasure to work with.

We called Hoffmann Brothers on Saturday, August 25 because our 16 year old air conditioner was leaking water all over the basement floor and not cooling the house. The technician was scheduled for Monday morning. He arrived at approximately 9 am, and started work. He diagnosed the problem as low refrigerant and a bad condenser fan motor. We agreed to pay approximately $1,340 to refill the refrigerant, add easy seal, and replace the fan motor and capacitor, plus labor. He completed the work in approximately two hours and assured us that the air conditioner would run for a few more years despite its old age. The air conditioner stopped cooling two days later. We called Hoffmann Brothers back to recheck their work. A technician arrived Thursday morning, August 30. He used a puron/r-410a refrigerant leak detector to check the exterior and interior coils for leaks. He found several leaks on the interior coil. (Note: the receipt from the first technician states that he only did a visual check for leaks). Their estimated cost to replace the interior coil was $1,950. Given the age of the system and the total repair cost vs. replacement cost, we declined the repair and asked for an estimate for a new system. Hoffman Brothers gave us a bid for replacing our furnace and AC system and offered discounts for the faulty diagnostics and repair work; however, even with the discounts included, their total cost was $2,000 more than their competitor's bid. We are extremely disappointed with the service and pricing we received and think we should have a refund for the faulty diagnostics. We think the puron/r-410a detector should have been used by the first technician. This would have shown the full scope of the repairs needed, which totaled $3,290 and warranted full replacement on Monday. Instead, we paid $1,340 for the air conditioner to run for two days and then had to pay for a full replacement. Had the leak been properly detected, we would not have wasted a substantial amount of money replacing a condenser fan motor on a system actually in need to full replacement nor would we have paid to refill the refrigerant into a leaking coil.

Technician was friendly and explained how each part of the air conditioning system worked. He was able to make small repairs that immediately improved the efficiency of my system.
