Uptown Heating and Cooling

My 15-year-old heat pump recently died. I contacted three local companies which service heat pumps. Two of them told me I needed to install a new heat pump (at a very high cost!). Uptown Air Conditioning was the only company that suggested I consider repairing my old pump. That made a lot of sense to me. I was so impressed with the technician from Uptown, Mat, who initially did such a thorough assessment that I knew I was working with a knowledgeable person. Although knowledgeable in his own right, Mat did not hesitate to contact tech support for Daikan systems (which is what I have) whenever necessary. Despite set-backs, Mat never gave up in his efforts to get my old heat pump back to working order. He kept me informed at every step, explaining things in terms that I could understand. He is clearly a thoughtful problem-solver and very thorough in his work. Thanks to him my old heat pump has a new lease on life. Considering how many hours Mat spent on my job, I was delighted with the final cost. Most reasonable! I would definitely recommend Uptown Air Conditioning.

We are so happy with our service from Uptown Air Conditioning. When our Heat Pump quit working we called in the company that installed it. Despite it being less than 5 years old they said we needed to replace a $8,500 part. Our son in law suggested we call Kristen at Uptown to get a second opinion. Kristen quickly arranged for Adrian a service technician to come over and check our system. He performed a detailed diagnostic check which corrected a fault in the system. No new equipment was required and our unit has been running great ever since. We highly recommend Uptown Air Conditioning. Kind and trustworthy consummate professionals. When our furnace went down at the first sign of frost Chris & his team were there for us. When everyone else was booking 3 to 5 days out, Chris found a way to get a tech to us within 24 hours. The service required replacement parts which the tech explained clearly and gave a breakdown of how long it would take to fix. The final repair was cost effective and there was no attempts to upsell anything. Just simple, clear, fast, and quality service. And the price was reasonable too. Overall 10/10 would recommend.

Excellent service ! Mike managed to fill my two cylinders in a timely manner (1 1/2 hrs. ) even though he was really busy doing a refit at Phillips Brewing this week . That saved me driving back in from Metchosin again next week .

Recently had central AC installed at my house. Kristen and his team were fantastic to work with. The quote was reasonable and transparent, booking was quick and efficient. The install team was on-time, open to answer questions, and proactive with some recommendations. Everything was cleaned up prior to their departure, and my wife immediately took advantage of the cold-air blowing into our 1930's home.

Work was professional and quick, and they were able to fit us in on a short timeline. They were also able to return again on short notice when needed.

Very impressed with Matt's attention to detail. I would recommend to anyone building a new home to seriously consider Uptown be the contractor to install a heat pump system.

I called them when a very large well known competitor told me I had to replace my heat pump. Uptown Air Conditioning does more than air conditioning -- furnace installation, repair, and inspection, heat pump installations, etc. And the owner Kristen at Uptown has saved me a lot of money and prevented unnecessary disruption. Kristen gave me excellent and very timely advice on an old but still-working-perfectly furnace. Another company "X" whom I'd asked to do a routine service on it had told me the old furnace was dangerous and needed to be replaced immediately (which that company would happily do at great cost). As the old furnace had been serviced regularly, has a CO and gas detector nearby that has never gone off, and was inspected recently by Fortis BC with no concerns raised, it seemed very strange that company X was prepared to shut it down. I contacted Kristen at Uptown for his opinion and advice and he was both very informed about the issue and very reassuring, and even took the trouble to talk that day (!) to gas inspectors himself to reassure me that what I'd been told by company X was incorrect, and I could continue to operate the old workhorse furnace as is, provided no modifications were made to the furnace. This saved me thousands of dollars and huge hassles, and the furnace continues to work just fine. Thank you, Kristen, for your generous help under urgent conditions, and your professional and well-informed service that goes well beyond what many companies provide. I've used Uptown for my house and both businesses over the last 7~ years. Between the three shops we have two heat pumps, two specialty refrigeration units, and well over 20 standard commercial fridge/freezer units. Uptown has always been good to us and found time to help us in emergencies. They've done installs, repairs, maintenance for us and we've always been happy.

I've used Kristen and his team for multiple repairs to our furnace over the past couple of years. On both occasions Kristen has gone out of his way to get a team member over to our house in a timely manner to fix the issues so we weren't without heat for an extended period of time. Very professional workers that were clean, tidy and respectful. Couldn't ask for a better service. Would highly recommend for any HVAC services.
