Do not use McCarthy Services or American Residential Services (Parent Company). They will grossly overcharge and will not return calls. And their office staff will treat you rudely. We used McCarthy Services to replace our HVAC on 2020 because we had a neighbor that did sales for them. He helped us and it was reasonable. Something has drastically changed. He left the firm in 2022. Said he was not treated well. Hmm. On 8/25 we had them come over for a service call. Nothing was wrong with the Carrier unit, but had them do preventative maintenance. The technician , Alexander Kazeitchev recommended a Condenser Coil Cleaning Level 2. We thought we could trust them. The bill for the condenser coil cleaning was for 899$. So today I called Carrier directly and talked to Bonnie at 800-379-6484 and she said that was very very high. She send me a list of approved Carrier vendors for Sterling Other vendors quoted 250$ or 300$ Stay far away from McCarthy services. Snakes

This company is dishonest and will attempt to make repairs or replace equipment that is functionable and operable. I requested a Fall maintenance checkup of my gas furnace and the technician listed five things that were seriously wrong with my unit and strongly recommended that I replace it or repair it at a cost of just under $ 7,000. Some of the items I had recently replaced or serviced myself so I was immediately suspicious. I called a reputable hvac company to do a thorough inspection and they reported NONE of the items were defective and that my furnace was in good operating order. The name of the technician was Marvin Jenkins. McCarthy Services was recently acquired by ARS Services. In my opinion, BOTH of these companies are dishonest and will try to rip off the consumer. BEWARE!

Highly deceptive, dishonest and disingenuous business practices. Called the listed number provided by my service warranty for my two-year old furnace. When the call was answered, it was by McCarthy and not the original vendor (seems like McCarthy purchased the original vendor). Described my furnace problem, the dispatcher said there will be a $119 service fee to send out a technician, but that the service fee is waived if a repair is needed. Tech arrived and was professional and competent. Stated one of the sensors went bad, would need to order one, and would be able to return when the part arrived. I querried how much the repair would cost, and he estimated about $800-$1000. Shockingly high amount, but I advised the tech I have a 10 year parts/5 year labor warranty, and tech took a copy of the warranty back to the main office. Part arrives, tech returns, and the front office of McCarthy calls stating our warranty is only for two years labor, not five. Went back and forth, with McCarthy finally accepting that it is a five year labor warranty. Full repair ultimately covered by the warranty. However, McCarthy front office manager Richard Nelson asserted that I still owe the $119 service fee. I replied that I was initially told by their dispatcher that the service fee waived if repair executed. Richard Nelson then asserts 1) that was incorrect information, 2) that I did not pay for the repair myself – the warranty company did, and 3) I should have downloaded a McCarthy on-line coupon to waived the fee with a +$400 repair. So a coupon waives the service fee but a executed repair that would have cost me $800-$1000 does not because I have a warranty and did not personally incur any costs? I then personally sent him a full copy of my warranty contract, which does not exclude coverage of a diagnostic service fee. He further stated that if I did not pay the service fee, McCarthy Services would charge me $119 up front before dispatching a technician the next time I called for warranty service. I took this as a veiled threat and that I would get a “black mark” on my account. Being my warranty is now tied to McCarthy and cannot be used elsewhere, in the end I paid the $119 service fee with the hope that it will protect me from getting a less-than-timely “second tier” response from McCarthy Services if I need to use my warranty again.

Don’t buy product from this company! They will leave you without air conditioning. For us we don’t have aircon for 10 days now and I don’t think they will resolved this issue anytime soon. So just beware if you can avoid this company. It’s not worth the money. Their technicians are great but not the management or whoever is selling their units.

McCarthy Services seems to have a new business model. The technician estimates a ridiculously high cost for a repair--for example, $900 to replace a toilet. When the homeowner rejects it (as I did), he takes the $119 mandatory “diagnostic fee” and goes home.

Worker was great. Bait and switch on price. I called on 2 separate occasions and was told the cost was $119 unless there was something unusual about the job. There wasn’t but I found out the real charge was $450. Won’t use them again. Have used them before they were bought and had great, honest service. Won’t use again.

I had a McCarthy HVAC system (attic and basement) installed one year ago. We are very happy with the equipment, the installation, the sale. I am giving a one-star rating because no sooner had the technicians left when the phone calls started. Relentless phone calls trying to get me to schedule maintenance services. I said no, I blocked the numbers, I asked to be removed from the call list, but the calls continue, sometimes two or three times per day. I don't know what else to do! I will not be using McCarthy to do my maintenance, that's for sure!

I never had such a tuneup service in my life. The technician "Jeremiah" asked is it running good? I said yes. He said everything looks good and left. He didn't check anything. Waste of time and money for everybody.

Bekele did a fantastic job doing our fall furnace service. He recommended a compressor cover for the winter as well as a couple foam faucet covers to help prevent any freezing accidents over the winter. Have been a McCarthy customer for years and we continue to be very happy with their service.

McCarthy's tech and office provide quotes for repair and replacement alternatives for my gas furnace, on a Saturday morning. They arranged for a replacement gas furnace financing before the technician left, and scheduled install for early next week. Thanks guys.

Yesterday we hired McCarthy for plumbing service by Angel Feliciano. Angel was professional, a good communicator, very friendly, and he answered all our questions. He did a great job snaking the laundry sink and deserves FIVE STARS for his work. However, as other customers mentioned in their reviews, the price set up by the company for this service is EXTREMELY high. We didn't expect that it would cost so much, but we were in a pinch, so we agreed to the price. Overall, we had great experience with Angel and we would recommend him for any plumbing service.

Stay as far away from McCarthy Services as possible. Once they take your money, you are on your own. I was quoted a price for one brand HVAC unit (inside and outside unit), paid in full, and received a mix and match of two brands for the inside and outside unit. After reaching out to the sales guy to explain, he shut me off saying both brands are the same manufacturer and stopped responding to me. Keep in mind, had I picked the other brand that I opted not to purchase, they would have charged me more and ripped me off due to the brand being “high end top of the line”. I called asking for a manager. I got a call back from one person claiming to be a manager and after I explained my situation, he said he would pull up my contract and give me a call so they can resolve the issue. It has been 3 weeks and I have yet to receive that call back. I tried calling the main office few times only to be told that the managers are all on a meeting call and would return my call back. I still have not heard from anyone as of this review. So stay away from these guys’ shady business.

Less than two years ago McCarthy installed a brand new HVAC system in my home. Since then, it has broken down 3 times. For this third time, despite being told someone would be coming out to fix my AC this morning, no one came. When I called, they said they would send someone out this afternoon. Eventually the tech, "Kevin D Vo," came to my door telling me they weren't going to be able to look at my system today because of the weather. I told him that was unacceptable and he straight up laughed in my face. Glad someone finds the situation funny, because another summer day without AC isn't funny to me.

WARNING !!! DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. THEY CHARGED ME $300 FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE COST NO MORE THAN THEIR ASSESSEMENT FEE $59.00. When I called to speak to the manager, they took my number and said he would call me back. 2 hours later, I get a text requesting a view of their service call to my home. But survey laid all the blame on the Service Tech. The service Tech was Great! No problem with the service tech (unless charging me $300 was at his discretion). the Problem was with management charging me $300 for the service Tech to take a single S tool to turn something on my Garbage Disposal and flip the switch. I could have found that out on YOUTUBE. He was done in less than 15mins and out the door. Management is at fault. If the person that was supposed to call me was a manager, they should be Fired ! If the manager is the Owner, then I want them out of Business. I like what Ahmed said in the Review. "If there were ZERO stars, that is what they would get.
