I unfortunately had an incredibly bad experience with John G Webster that I have tried to resolve amicable through email and calls which were unreturned. At this point, I will relay my experience with them here to hopefully prevent others from exposing themselves to what I perceive to be poor service and bad business practice. These are the facts of the service: • Two years previously, John G webster installed my HVAC/PTAC unit and thermostat into my condo. • I recently diagnosed that the wireless thermostat was no longer communicating with the PTAC and needed to be replaced or fixed. I spoke to someone on the phone, explained to them my issue, and scheduled a service. • I also gave them my credit card information because at this point I had a tenant in the unit who would manage the service call at their convince. • After the appointment, I received not one but TWO separate bills totaling almost $400. The diagnosis after their “expert” service: the thermostat isn’t working and needs to be replaced for $500. • When I called, I asked why in the world they needed 2.5+ hours, 2 separate service technicians, and $400 to diagnosis what I had initially told them was a thermostat issue. They responded that they needed to ensure there was nothing else wrong with the unit. I noted that the error notification lights on the unit itself showed no issues and asked if they had disconnected the thermostat to test the unit itself. They explained that they had not. In my opinion that is a no brainer 1st step. • I asked if they were the owner the unit if they would have been ok with paying $400 to diagnose an issue when the issue was already identified. The manager would not give me a response because I believe he knew that he would not. • I asked and emailed requesting the owner give me a call. I received no response. I do not believe these people to be very skilled and they will charge you more due to their own lack of knowledge. They also authorize additional technicians and services without your approval if they have your credit card on file and just invoice you after. I would NOT recommend giving these people your credit card information ahead of time. I will be sharing this information with the BBB and I will not be doing business with this business moving forward. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

We have used this company for everything from emergency repairs to installing a new HVAC system. They are responsive, professional, and knowledgeable and trustworthy. Always send someone out in a timely matter. Ashley was very pleasant & scheduled someone to come out. Bryan is the one who came out, he was very educated & explained every step of the way what was going wrong and what were they going to do to fix it! I highly appreciate when technicians take the interest and care to first explain before working on it. It’s rare that you meet people in this industry who are so knowledgeable and helpful all at once.

Pretty straight forward job. Found all kinds of things wrong with my 1 year old tankless water heater. Came up with a $2000 estimate. I called another plumber, they said nothing was wrong, charged me $600 for the whole thing. H

Subfreezing temps outside and my boiler stopped working. Made an emergency call. Josh arrived, diagnosed the problem and provided a temporary fix to get the heat back on. Josh was super friendly and informative. Will definitely consider again when a major service is needed.

Shortly after moving into an old rowhome in DC in the winter, we realized the existing HVAC system was terribly designed and unable to heat our home comfortably. After talking to a dozen HVAC companies about how to improve the house's comfort and energy efficiency, I came to the realization that there was no salvaging the HVAC system--it needed to be completely redone. I really enjoyed talking to Zach from John G Webster; he was my sales contact, and he ultimately did most of the work himself, usually with another technician. He was very knowledgeable, and always answered my questions patiently. Zach's knowledge, as well as the fact that Webster's quote was more favorable than another companies, led me to choose Webster for this large job. Zach gave us quotes for four different options for redesigning the system. We ultimately settled on a multi-zone system with both ducted and ductless mini-splits running off of a single rooftop outdoor unit. The job took several weeks. There were a few snags, as there always will be in a big job like this, but Zach always kept me posted, got me involved when a decision need to be made, and texted me regularly about when the crew would be coming the next day. Everything was done with a high degree of care, and we are very happy with the results. Previously we had an energy-inefficient system heating and cooling three floors in one gigantic, inconsistent climate zone. Now we have a multi-zone system that is quiet, energy-efficient, and quickly gets to the desired temperature. Mini-splits are a great way to improve your home's HVAC system, and John G Webster is a great company to install the system for you.

I have used The John G. Webster Company many times over the past 20-years. In every case, I have found them to be trustworthy, friendly, and excellent at their work. Recently, they repaired my furnace. Their Technician Zach was excellent. He diagnosed the problem and completed the repair very quickly and restored my heat on a cold Winter day. I would highly recommend The John G. Webster Company. Their prices are excellent and they always deliver an excellent value when doing their work.

The price was reasonable and the job was completed timely and as promised.

Extremely well. High degree of professionalism, from well before the job to the follow-up afterward. Everything is explained very well, and they listen. Technicians are punctual, well-prepared; respectful of property and careful to clean up at every turn. Have used Webster for twelve years in two properties. They are consistently outstanding with hvac, plumbing, water heaters and semi-annual inspections.

They're really good. They're not cheap but not expensive meaning they're reasonable. I am happy with them.

We hired Webster to replace our central air conditioning units. After getting estimates from four companies, we chose them for a variety of reasons beginning with the man who came to give the estimate, their responsiveness and professionalism in presenting the estimate, price, and general reputation. We are extremely happy to the service we received from Websiter. The installers were everytihng we could have wished for. They were courteous, prompt, professional and very responsive to any questions we had. Everyone we dealt with was knowledgeable and patient. We couldn't be happier with the service we received.

They were able to diagnose quickly that the fan motor was not receiving enough electricity so I needed to hire an electrician to repair the the wire that feeds the unit.

It was a very difficult installation in a cramped, crowded space. They were prompt and reasonable about the entire thing. Worked very hard during the entire process and were very conscientious during the entire project. Very happy with what they have done and would highly recommend them. On getting a quote, they were fast and the most reasonable of all the vendors I spoke with. They were very good on following up and answering any questions. Very happy with them.

Very well. They arrived around 08:30 am, removed the old 80 gal. electric water heater, installed the drip pan, the new 75 Gal AO Smith gas water heater and expansion tank, installed a new flu, a new gas line, and new copper piping. They tested it , cleaned the utility room and left around 05:00 pm.

I was very impressed and will start a long-term relationship with Webster, especially if Edwin, their tech, remains with them. I was impressed with him.

He was not on time and I had to call him three times. I feel the prices were high. When I asked him questions, his response would be "I do not know." They opened my unit and never put the screws back because they said they were going to come back and fix it. They do not good customer service.

We began using him when we got our first furnace then had to get him out once. They are always good. I don't know about their other prices.

We have a maintenance contract with them. They usually come out to do the air and we get them out early because the unit is in the ceiling and we don't want them to go up there when it is hot. They always do a good job. We have been using them for years. I guess their price is okay because that is who we always use. They do good work. They are always here before or on time. They are very explicit and always show us what we need. If we really need something with the yearly contract they will give us a little discount.

Our air conditioning stopped working last week. A tech from John G Webster came out and told us that the compressor died. The next day, the owner of the company came to our house to confirm the issue. We have a 6 mo old so we really needed to get the AC working. He confirmed we needed a new system. He was able to get a team in over the weekend to replace everything. Everyone was professional and courteous. We received a phone call after all the work was done to make sure we were happy. Definitely recommend this company after our great experience.
