My AC was not cooling. The person who took my call was very nice and professional. She got me an appointment in a few hours. The technician, Ronald fixed my AC. He was very professional and informative. Highly recommend this company.

This was the best service experience my wife and I have had in years!!! Yesterday our air conditioner in our home stopped cooling. I called the firm we had used previously - they explained our compressor was worn out and a complete new system was needed. There recommendation was a $21,000 replacement... I was a bit taken aback by the lack of explanation - so opted for a second opinion. I contacted Air Conditioning Specialists the next day. They were able to come out the same day - did a thorough inspection of our unit and determine it was merely a problem with a compressor part (the capacitor) repaired the issue that day and we immediately a working unit! The Sales Manager Dave - gave a thorough explanation of the problem and exactly what we need to do to maximize the life of our unit. We were so happy with the service we received we immediately signed up for their annual maintenance program. Our total bill for the service and signing up for the maintenance program was a bit under $300 - verses the previous bid of $21,000 from the first firm we contacted. We will be a client of Air Conditioning Specialists exclusively going forward. I would recommend Air Conditioning Specialists for anyone who is looking for honest answers - they are "the real deal"!!! Lee Rogers Towers of Town Lake Austin, Texas

Our first experience with this company came as a result of our failed air conditioning one hot July day. I called them and said we were new customers and even though they had many no a/c calls to handle they made it to us late in the morning that same day. They repaired our unit and have been servicing our equipment ever since. They do preventative maintenance and keep us apprised of any potential issues. The cost is comparable to other companies. The service personnel are knowledgeable and professional as well as neatly dressed and friendly.

I never leave bad reviews but this is absolutely the WORST company I have ever dealt with. This is the 5th time in two months we have scheduled an appointment with them through American home shield to fix the same problem they couldn’t fix the first four times. Communication is horrible, the service is incompetent and the techs blame the previous ones for not fixing the problem right the first time. Oh, and when we missed the text that the tech needed the gate code, rather than calling, he bailed and said he couldn’t come back today. Shame on you, American Home Shield, for using such a substandard company!

This company is a rip off, and they don’t know what they’re doing! They came on a Sunday to fix both my units, so they said it would be an extra charge. After 3 hours, they added freon to one unit & charged me $1300 & said I needed a new motor on the other. Dean’s AC came the next day & said the unit didn’t need a new motor, but a fan instead. They fixed it for $300. I called AC Specialists to complain, but the manager said $1300 was a fair price. Beware!!

So glad to have heat today as temps plunged overnight. After an estimate from another company that seemed really high for blower motor replacement (and a strong suggestion that we should consider replacing the whole system) we called Air Conditioning Specialists on a friend's recommendation. Tech arrived at around 2 and we were back in heat for well under half what the other company was going to charge. Felt like we were dealt with very fairly.

Had a great experience with Josh from AC specialists. Josh was very helpful and explained the issue in detai took all safety precautions of mask and shoe covers. He promptly flushed out the AC drain pipes which was causing our compressor to shut off. Will definitely recommend Josh and the company to all friends!

Gary G (tech) just came by and did some warranty work since our fan wasn't kicking on. Very nice, helpful and explained why and what he was fixing, was in and out in a flash. Definitely recommend this company!

Worst company. They caused significant water damage after disloging a clog and seperating a pipeand not bothering to check that pipes were still connected. Completely unable to contact them.

Great knowledge, service, and prices. Their a/c replacement was significantly less than the other major companies (that advertise).

Yelp
These guys were great. I have used a number of AC companies over the years and these guys have been the best by far. First off, they took the time to actually consult with me on what I wanted whereas the other companies bidding on the job came in, looked at the space, and left and sent me a quote. AC Specialists brought in their installer prior to making any system recommendations to ensure what they quoted would actually fit in the space. I ended up with a unit that does humidity control which I love and never would have known existed if I stuck with the other big companies I got quotes from. I even paid quite a bit more (for more technology) but it was well worth it. They installed everything and then we had a pipe start leaking that ruined some Sheetrock, they came in, repaired the leak, and then took responsibility for the Sheetrock. Then a little later something fell in the line and we got a leak upstairs. They came in, cleaned out the line, and again took responsibility to get the Sheetrock repaired. These guys have integrity and I will never do business with any other company again. I could not recommend them any higher.

Yelp
I have experienced lots better. Had a condenser fan motor replaced on my Trane XE1200 4 ton ac system. It's old, so I wanted something to get by for a few years. They quoted $417 but said it could be more. I gave them model and s/n before they quoted. The quote came from Dave the service manager, communicated though Kari, office mgr. Tech, Cody came out and installed the fan motor 5 days later. He was OK, but clearly had not seen my unit. He took off a few parts that were not necessary and did not secure the fan motor run capacitor. But at least he replaced all but one of the fan cover screws. I got the last one, in the form of an unexpectedly high $527 bill. He waited until finishing to deliver that news. He installed a Trane motor and told me: "They are more expensive." A long, unpleasant and unfruitful conversation followed. Not great service, expensive (a $200 labor charge for 1 hr), and, in my opinion, sneaky on the bill. Won't be using them again.

Yelp
These guys are fabulous! I have been a customer for 25 yrs. They have been nothing short of absolutely stellar during all of that time. 3 yrs ago they installed a completely new heating & cooling Trane system for me. The A/C was a 5 ton 2 zone system. The entire system is complex and state-of-the-art. It has worked flawlessly for the entire time and worked perfectly from the very first day. My cooling bill went down immediately. They corrected mistakes made by my builder for no extra charge. Their workmanship is clean clean clean. The entire install looks magnificent. The other day a was up in the attic and happened to take a look at the new damper system, plenum and such, it was so beautifully installed! Use them with no fear. You'll get the best service available at a fair price. And, they are extremely professional and courteous.

Yelp
I have used ACS several times. They installed a couple of new systems for me a year ago and did a good job. Their price was average, installation good. Fast forward to this year and my experience was completely different . They gave me an estimate for installing a vent in a new room but when I called to schedule the work, they increased the price by 50% (another $150) and tried to justify the increase by saying I lived a long way out. I live in Buda, which is listed on their website as being in their service area, and it takes approximately 30 minutes to get here from Central Austin during non rush hour traffic. Unhappy about the extra $150 to come here, but needing the work done, I reluctantly agreed. The men who came out were pleasant and installed the new vent but also made a cut in the wrong part of the ceiling . In talking to the salesman at ACS, he said he would send someone out to repair the ceiling . I offered to have my sheet rock installer do it (my guy quoted me $40) but the salesman cut me off and insisted that they would do the repair. ( apparently the drive wasn't so bad after all). After playing phone tag with their repair person, he came out and patched the hole and repainted the ceiling . He was very nice and did a good job, but you could still see that a patch had been done. My wife was not too happy, understandably and I called ACS about it. The same salesman got on the phone, was rude towards me, interrupted me as I tried to explain the problem , only saying his repairman was the best there is. He told me I had to send him pictures of the repair, to which I agreed . He would not let me text them, however , but said I had to email them. When I asked for the email address , he did not give it to me but instead told me to go get it off of their Web page . It wasn't on their website , and I brought that to the secretary's attention . By now I had had enough and was on the fence about pursuing it further or just having it taken care of myself . So I'm doing it myself . In summary , they mostly do good work but beware if a problem arises. I would recommend you look elsewhere.

Yelp
I had Air Conditioning Specialists come out to check on our air conditioner at our business. We were told last summer by another company that the compressor was bad and they quoted $5000-$6000 to replace the system. Dave at Air Conditioning Specialists determined today that we had a bad capacitor. In less than 30 minutes and $333 later he had us cooling again. I love honest repair people! We signed up for their Preventive Maintenance Service before Dave left today.

Yelp
We bought our house three years ago with a 12-year-old AC system. These folks had to do some minor repairs each year until the compressor finally gave out a couple of weeks ago. Within 10 days, they priced a new system, I got approved from some really good Trane financing, and they installed the system in about eight hours. All the guys were friendly, courteous and clean. The new system works beautifully.

Yelp
AC Specialist replaced our old unit two summers ago. Their prices were competitive and their salesmen and technicians are nothing but professional. Our unit recently went out this summer due to a freak accident with a spider while we were out of town and the guys got over to the house within hours of alerting them on a Sunday and got us up and running and only charged us for the service call. I especially like the fact that ACS is an Austin company that is in the Crestview, Brentwood Allendale area. They also have a great preventative maintenance program that is inexpensive and worth it. You cant go wrong with ACS.

Yelp
Air Conditioning Specialists Having lived in Austin for 25 years everyone knows you need a great AC repair guy. Well these people are first class. They are at your front door the same day I call. They have keep our home comfortable without any problems for a fair price. They do what they say and with no surprises. I wish we had found them years ago, it would have spared us a lot of grief. Very professional and courteous when they work. Call these people if you are tired of getting the AC runaround, you will be glad you did. Thank you A/C Specialists...we are very grateful!

Yelp
Update: Filed with BBB, knowing they would probably not do anything as the A+ rating is only for companies that pay for their rating. The owner says in the BBB report that Air Conditioning Specialists starts charging their customers as soon as their tech's ignition starts at their office on Burnet Road (We did not know that was their policy), mind you this is in addition to the $8.00 travel fee added to the same invoice. It would have been most helpful if this information would have been on their website or even verbally conveyed. The owner chose not to say in the BBB report why we were charged an additional $83.00 materials charge after the office lady and tech both said we only would have to pay labor on the 3 year old Trane unit ACS installed costing $5670.00 that is still under warranty. ACS will still not send us a copy of an invoice for work that was done to a valve, in our home by ACS following an inspection after initial installation, even after multiple requests, including in the BBB report. The inspector asked for this work to be done. Hopefully this review will help others in being prepared when dealing with an A/C company and knowing what questions to ask up front. Best advice is get everything in writing, even if you have previously done business with them.

Yelp
Bought new Trane A/C from ACS costing $5670.00, 3 years ago, replacing original, inexpensive, builder grade unit installed when I bought my new home 1999. Saturday, July 2nd, Trane stopped working. They sent a tech over, he said a capacitor had blown. He replaced it. Told tech unit was unable to maintain 74 degrees past couple of weeks, was getting up to 76 in the afternoons though it was set to 74. Tech said unit should easily handle 74, as did the salesman when we were looking to buy. He ran diagnostic tests & checked refrigerant. He went out to the truck & wrote up an invoice that said he had fixed it & asked us to sign it. We did & wrote a check for $92.00 balance as the warranty covered rest. My husband asked for a copy of the invoice, he said he had run out of normal invoices but the office would mail us a copy. We have still not received it. About 50 minutes had passed since he had replaced the capacitor & the temperature had not dropped at all, we brought this up, he said it should have dropped a degree or 2 by now so he checked the air temp coming out of vents & said it was not as cold as it should be, then went up into the attic to check something, he mentioned that some kind of pressure he tested earlier was high & he thought there was a different issue going on as well. He needed to leave as his supervisor was cooking BBQ & he still had another call. He said at least by replacing the capacitor we should be able to "limp" through the weekend & he said he would call us on Tues., July 5th to follow up. We waited & waited but never got a call. My husband finally called them back July 18th, explained all, office lady said they would send out "a fresh set of eyes", they sent out a different tech on July 20th. It was Air Conditioning Specialists that chose to send out a different tech, not us. My appointment was for 12:00 pm, tech showed up at 3:45 pm with no apologies for being 3 hours & 45 minutes late. My husband left a piece of paper where he had noted 1st tech's findings including that he had checked the refrigerant, replaced capacitor & air was not blowing as cold as it should. I showed it to 2nd tech, he seemed uninterested & in a hurry to go on outside. I then noticed 2nd tech running the exact same tests as 1st tech had run a few days earlier, I asked him why he was doing that & he said he knew what he was doing as he had been doing this for 11 years. He continued to run the same diagnostics. Afterwards, he went up into the attic, he said a valve needed to be replaced & with warranty it should cost $200.00 to $300.00, take 2-3 hours to change out & we would only be responsible for labor charges. I said to schedule it. He gave me an invoice for $92.00, I wrote another check. Next day my husband called owner regarding this & asked that the 2nd $92.00 be applied to the next visit. Owner said he would talk to 1st tech, but since he had written on the invoice that problem was fixed, this must be a different issue that just happened to happen within a few days of each other. My husband explained that 1st tech had written invoice prior to checking the temperature inside & that we had the same symptom prior to to 1st tech coming out as we did when he left , but owner continued to insist they must be two separate problems. Owner said he would ask 1st tech and call back. Owner left my husband voice mail Mon., July 25th saying 1st tech could not recall what he had done or said as he had been on a lot of calls in between then & now & therefore he could not help us. We feel that we should not have to pay for the same service twice just because his employees are in a hurry to leave and/or do not complete the diagnostics and/or do not make the necessary corrections to invoices they had previously filled out and/or cannot recall details that happened within less than 2 week time frame! July 26th, 2nd tech pulled up to my house at 8:54 am, stayed in his truck until 9:00 am, knocked on my door, right on time. At 11:00 sharp he was…

Yelp
I called them when my AC went out. The receptionist was very nice and they sent someone out right away (thankfully, since it was a hot day). Brent arrived in about 90 minutes. He was professional and courteous, even re-attaching the breaker box which was falling off. The basic service call was $92. I needed two new capacitors and a new starter relay, which ran $83, $83, and $163.

BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR! I was duped by this company! Told me the installation of my single front iron door would be $255/hr for 1 hr possible 2 hours for 2 people. This install was 7 hours for each person or 14 hours which cost me over $1300 to install 1 door. The door was already prehung. The 2 men were walking around wasting time, pretending to look for parts such as door handles which were right in front of them in the box. This is deceptive, false advertising, and will be reported to the BBB. They didn’t even get my confirmation/approval for additional hours or work! I will NEVER use their services again. Duped!
