Big thanks to Shane and Phil; they absolutely saved the (very cold) day 🥶 We woke up to a VERY noisy furnace and an outside temperature of 21 below zero. After a couple hours, the furnace made a very loud noise and stopped working all together. I put a call in to D & R; Phil had me attempt a couple of quick things with no resolve. He recognized the urgency of the situation and put the call in for some additional help as our cold community was keeping them very busy! Shane called and quickly arrived at our house to find a mangled “wheel”; like nothing he had ever seen before. He was off to the shop where he thankfully found the exact replacement we needed (it was the last one!). Shane had us back up and running within the hour. They did a fantastic job of communicating and we are forever grateful, and warm. Highly recommended! Thank you, Claude and Tracey

Had them come out 12/31/24 to assess our heat pump and get a quote. The guy verbally tells my wife $2500 for the condenser, but leaves no quote/estimate. I call back in June to get the estimate printed so I can call my home insurance agent and get the run around for over a week. I called back and office person tells me, "Yes it's right here on his desk, but he's been busy with big install and hasn't been able to get to it." I told her I totally understand being busy, but all I need is the quote to get things started on my end. She goes on to inform me it will be at least 3 weeks before we would be able to get scheduled in for any work to be performed. I told her don't worry about the quote. If you aren't in any hurry and don't mind being pushed off since everybody else is more important than you, this is your place. I get the big jobs pay the bills, but the small residential jobs keep you in business...

Tested our AC over the weekend and realized it wasn’t working right before the summer heat kicked in! I called D&R Service first thing Monday, and they had a technician out the same day to diagnose the issue. They gave me a few options, and we decided to go with a new AC system. By the end of the week, the new system was installed and running! Everyone I worked with was incredibly friendly, and the install crew was so polite and efficient. I’m really glad I got ahead of the heat and worked with a company that made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend D&R!

Was very disappointed by the lack of phone etiquette. I called in about a week ago regarding our broken A/C, the employee answered "Hi, this is [person's name]" without mentioning the business name. I had to ask if this was the business I was calling, to which she just replied "yes". When I explained to her the issue we were experiencing, she replied they were 4 weeks out to dispatch someone to inspect the issue, not perform any work. I told her nevermind, that we would keep looking to which she replied in a snarky tone "good luck". We found another company and were able to come same day and they will be replacing our A/C next week.

I should have looked at there reviews before calling. My job is to little they prefer bigger jobs so they can make more money. I know they don't care about their reviews because they don't respond to the same problems . Overcharging and ridiculous charges. The person answers the phone with hey or hello not even with the companies name so your confused right off the bat thinking you got a grumpy housewife on the phone. D&R should at the very least address's there customers complaints when they don't it shows that they don't care about you or there work. I'll pay more and go to action mechanical.

I highly recommend D&R Service. I called for service for my Mom's furnace today. It was less than an hr before a tech was at her house. The tech, Phillip was courteous, honest, and went above and beyond to explain to my Mom what was happening with her furnace and he was able to fix it within record time. The ladies in the office are awesome, friendly, and also went above and beyond to call me and keep me in loop regarding the service call. 5 stars isn't nearly high enough for the level of exceptional service received today by everyone within the company.

D&R is the best in town! My water heater broke and flooded my basement. They were here quickly and got it replaced and cleaned up. Alec was a great technician and Shane was super helpful to talk to on the phone and diagnose my problems! I highly recommend this business - family owned for many years in Rapid City. Can’t beat that!

D & R service in Rapid City, SD, installed a new Carrier Furnace and Air Conditioner. There are been was significantly less than the other company I contacted. It was installed within a week of me accepting the quote. I did both at the same time because labor costs would be more if done separately. Lonnie was very professional and explained exactly what I would need. The work was done by Jayson M and John G. They two were very professional. They covered my carpet so that it would not get dirty when they were going back-and-forth from the furnace room.. The reason I was replacing my furnace, which I believe was probably 23 or 24 years old, was because it was leaking carbon monoxide. I would recommend them highly and have to my neighbor who has been told she needs a new conditioner.

Phil was an absolute lifesaver! Our furnace went down last week in the coldest part of winter so far. He was patient, courteous, and extremely helpful in diagnosis of my unit. Phil and his team sources the exact part I needed and were able to get us fixed up and running again. Our heater is blowing really hot air and all the pets are warm again. Thank you Phil!!!!!

Quick shoutout to Phil for taking time after hours on a Friday to text and talk me through an issue, saving us the cost of a trip to fix it himself. Recommend these guys if you have furnace or AC issues! They’ve done right by us.

Is is unprofessional for a tech to sit in a parked car in a prime parking space next to my entrance for 30 minutes. If they had been honest and up front about their $12 truck charge I would have never used their service. Making that extra charge a surprise is an awful way to do business. Maybe be honest with your customers and don’t have a surprise charge! Tell people about the charge when they call for service. The tech was polite enough and was onsite for 5 minutes. Turns out I didn’t have a problem. Tech then proceeded to sit in his truck for 30 minutes in a prime parking space next to my entrance…which is rude an unprofessional. I had to call D and R to get the tech to move along to his next job. Now owners send me a bill for $88 (tech time) and a surprise $12 for a truck charge! I even gave the tech my business card to send the bill and I guess the tech didn’t do anything with it….because I still got a call from Bonnie asking what my email address is for billing purposes. Every business has a bad day but they didn’t make a good impression on me. poorly run organization.

D&R has been wonderful with our Campus! Getting parts is HARD people!! EVERYONE is backordered 6-9 wks so be patient.. D&R has excellent customer service and techs! Logan is GREAT and friendly, and the office staff is great!

I recently had a new furnace and AC installed. From start to finish everything went smoothly. Everyone at D&R that I interacted with was knowledgeable and professional. They will definitely be my first call for anything I need in the future.

I was charged $75 more for a part than what I was quoted in person. I wasn't told about a "truck charge" prior to it showing on the invoice. More than half of my bill was for a "quick fix" that ended up being $600. Floor was left with water on it and had to bleed the air from my boiler system myself. Overall not a great experience.

I called to schedule for someone to come and repair my air conditioner. It had stopped working and the hose had frost/ice built-up on it the day before so I shut it off. As luck would have it D&R was able to send someone right away, no waiting and they had it repaired within 30 minutes. The repair man John was very courteous.

I dont even know where to start. This place is AWESOME. The storm was rolling in, the roads were closing all around rapid, and our furnace starts acting up. I called a few places and was told "Sorry no travel advised." So I gave D & R a shot. They told me the roads were going to be closed, but let's see what we can do. Lonnie walked me through a few things over the phone, but they weren't the problem. So he called one of his amazing techs. He was there within 20 min. Qualified, kind, and professional. He quickly found the problem and fixed it right away!! He answered all my questions and showed me exactly what he did. Yay!!! A toasty warm family that got snowed in for a few days. I can't thank them enough for the professionalism they showed, as well as the kindness and concern. You guys saved the day!! Thank you!!! I would 100% recommend them to anyone. You have a new customer for life.

Our furnace went out last night when it was below zero, and today was apparently the busiest furnace day of the year. Their competitor said they couldn't even get to us until Thursday, but D&R was happy to send somebody to our house today. The technician only took a few minutes to figure out what was wrong with our furnace, went and got the part, and then came back and had it working in no time.

Had a furnace ignitor go out the day a super cold snap was due to roll through town. They work with another local business so the average homeowner can get the parts they need to be able to do it themselves! If I EVER need anyone to work on HVAC around this house it will be none other than D&R Service! No other business we called offered such a thing! I hope they truly understand how amazing an experience this was!

Our AC went out on the 4th of July. A tech showed within 15 minutes of calling and had us fixed up in an hour. Logan was very helpful and even showed my husband tips on self maintenance. Very impressed!!

Very professional and helpful. They were able to accommodate my last minute repair that needed to be done before my deployment. The technician was very knowledgeable and was determined to isolate the issue vs recommending unnecessary repairs; saving me money.

D and R took advantage of my 85 year old parents when their heater quit working. They charged $503 for a motor that we could have purchased for retail on Amazon (exact same model number) for $297, and I would assume their wholesale cost was even less. Although they told my parents that there was a year warranty, when the heater was again not working 7 months later and they came out, they again charged labor although the repairman did not know what was wrong but by physically rotating the motor he was able to get it going so assumed an obstruction. D and R was hostile when trying to communicate and ask questions. All in all $1,000 was spent including labor charges.
