Action Mechanical

I have used Action Mechanical twice since I've been in Rapid; first time was to replace a water heater and second was today to fix a sink pea trap. Both experiences have been top notch. The entire team, from the person who answers the phone to the technicians have been wonderful. They were extremely patient, understanding, and quick to schedule and perform services. I fell like they go out of their way to give a customer the best experience. I wouldn't recommend anyone else!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I was a faithful customer for many years, but my latest experience with Action Mechanical was horrible. In December of 2024, an Action Mechanical HVAC tech installed a new thermostat in our home. Less than a year later it stopped working. We had no heat and it was freezing temperatures at night. The soonest Jason with Action Mechanical would dispatch a tech to our home was 10 days later. I was forced to work with another company (who sent someone same day) and their tech informed me that the WRONG thermostat had been installed by the Action Mechanical tech. (It was too high voltage for my very old direct vent wall system - which made sense because it had an air conditioning option and we had no central air.) I called Action Mechanical to hopefully receive some sort of a refund since I had to pay twice to fix the same problem in just 10 months due to their faulty work, and was told there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO because I had worked with another company to fix the problem, even though I tried to work with Action Mechanical in the first place and they refused to help in a reasonable amount of time. (Side note, I googled the faulty thermostat Action Mechanical had installed and it had terrible reviews and retailed for $40.26 Action Mechanical charged me over $107 for the part alone - $171 for the inadequate service). I wasn’t even asking the company for a full refund, just something and was basically scoffed at.

Three companies messed around for ten days before Action Mechanical sent Justin over. He was knowledgeable, determined, and found and fixed the problem in two hours. Hands down best service I’ve experienced in Rapid City in 13 years.

Repaired a leaky toilet. Shortly after the repair, another leak appeared and the technician promptly returned and fixed the issue. Have always had great service from Action Mechanical for both of our homes and would not consider going with another service.

These guys are awesome. The only downside tends to be availability, testament to the quality of service. Came home from vacation to some moderate flooding. Insurance needed a plumber and Kelly made sure he could fit us in. Service like this is what keeps us coming back to Action Mechanical. Thank you guys!

We found water dripping from a ceiling when we returned from a trip. Josh of Action Mechanical rose to our emergency plumbing needs immediately. We did not wait long for his arrival even though we live out of town. He is knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed our problem. He was able to fix the issue and prevent further water damage. Josh was professional. We are very happy.

my grandparents are elderly. Called them about shower fixed it in a timely manner. couple days later they came back to work on toilet and fix kitchen sink. they treat they with the up most respect. Always call them go my plumbing or h vac needs

Action Mechanical responded quickly to my plumbing problem and dispatched a service rep almost immediately. From there the process to assess the issue, assign a technician and complete the work was seamless. Ruger, the service technician that performed the work was knowledgeable and honest. He completed the work efficiently and with quality. Everyone I interacted with was super friendly and showed genuine concern for my issue. Could not have been better!

Very knowledgeable group, they did a fantastic job. Jared was great while doing the bid and offered great suggestions in how to use our system efficiently. The tech that did the installation did an awesome job with very clean work. Highly recommend.

Where do I begin? I had Action Mechanical properly correct some work I did while installing a hot water heater. When the plumber showed up he instantly started complaining because he would have to drain the hot water heater. When he did start to drain the hot water heater he did so into the condensation pipe of the air conditioner which caused the water to back flow into the air vents and flood my downstairs bathroom. The plumber complained because the hose he had was frozen and was unable to use it. I was charged for the full time including the mistake of the plumber. Tim made it seem like they did me a favor by paying for Rapid Recovery to come out and dry out my basement for their mistake. I had to listen to loud fans for 4 days until everything was dried. I was charged for the guys they sent out to clean up their mess even though I had cleaned up most of it before they arrived. Tim was reluctant to make any changes to the bill and was rude. In the end he took off $200 and that was after a long back and forth. Tim initially, made it seem like it was my fault due to not draining the hot water heater myself even though he never asked me to. The work was done on 2-21-25. They finished fixing my drywall on 5-23-25. Tim no longer returned my calls or e-mails when I asked for an estimated time of repair of the bathroom drywall. You are better off watching a YouTube video and do your own plumbing or find a "professional on Facebook" rather than have Action Mechanical do any work for you. Look elsewhere.

Needed plumbing help and called Action Mechanical. They responded appropriately as they always do and their tech Josh was efficient, friendly and through, explaining what he needed to do. There are times when I can’t fix a plumbing problem myself and can count on Action Mechanical to be there.

The hot water heater was a champ and lasted 21 years but had seen its last days. Gary came over and taught me everything I needed to know about plumbing, hot water heaters, and tankless heaters. He was amazing as everybody at Action Mechanical is. 1 day later I had an installed hot water heater, new knowledge on how to take care of my heater and another great experience of this company. Call them first.

I’ve used Action Mechanical for a few years now and cannot be more pleased with their service! Every technician that has done services at our home are always pleasant, kind, and professional. We recently did our HVAC system check up, and the technician that did the service was kind enough to explain, not only to my partner but also to me that he recommended a different type of air filter to save on energy costs and so that the system wouldn’t have to work so hard. He went out of his way to ensure we both got the information! ⭐️ Our water heater recently went out and my first call the next morning was Action Mechanical. They sent their plumbing manager out in a timely manner to inspect and estimate that morning. I called back to get on their schedule and had expected to have a new water heater in a few days. They were able to get two technicians over to my house and install that afternoon! By the time we were done with work that day, we had a working water heater ☺️ Every time I’ve called to schedule a service, the scheduling staff and receptionist are always friendly and helpful! 🤩 I’m sorry, I wish I could recall names of the individuals as I would definitely give them the recognition as well!!

We appreciate your professionalism, expertise and friendly demeanor in all that you do. You’ve always explained each procedure and repaired to our complete satisfaction. Fair price with great people. We highly recommend you to everyone and will never use anyone but Action Mechanical!

The breakroom at my place of business had a dead garbage disposal. Kelly sent out one fella (sorry - forget name) to see whether it was a clogged drain or if we needed a new disposal. I wasn't a clogged drain. Josh & Cory came out with a new disposal and fixed us right up. All of this was complete in under 2 hours of calling. Businesses have priority. I only call Action Mechanical for me and my family. The staff is always courteous and friendly. They good advice for future knowledge and I have always felt like my problem was their first concern, even though they are very busy. If you want a stable & reliable plumber, HVAC / AC professionals, call them!

If you want the job done right the 1st time, call these guys. I recently had plumbing issues and originally called another company that ended up having to come out twice because the first time they caused a bigger issue and weren't able to get the job done. I then called Action Mechanical, explained the situation, they sent out 2 employees who pin pointed the problem right away and got everything running smoothly. The guys were both respectful and more importantly both were knowledgeable in their field and knew what they were doing. They took the time to explain what was going on with my system and let me know what needs to be done to prevent the issue from reoccurring in the future. I appreciate your diligence, great customer service and reasonable and affordable rate!

Sprung a leak in the expansion tank in the middle of the night. Called Action Mechanical at 7 am. Eric was at right away and done by 8 am. He did a great job and was professional and courteous. Thanks for taking care if us so quickly!

We have a HTP 80 Gallon Electric hot water heater that needed new heating elements. I had called another company first that had helped me in the past with plumbing issues. They did not want to do the job, instead they tried to sell me a new water heater. So I called Action Mechanical and they ordered the elements and came to my house when they said they would. Very prompt! Scott and his Apprentice Ruger came out and repaired my water heater. I'm very impressed with the work they did. I feel that they even went the extra mile for me! I will for sure call Action Mechanical first next time I have a plumbing or heating issue. Thanks Scott and Ruger.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I called Action mechanical and they had Greg out with a teammate within an hour. They fixed a leak and cleaned up my messy looking under sink (pipes going every which way). In and out in less than an hour and also installed a pressure tank which is now code. I couldn’t be happier.

Potential future customers deserve transparency so that is prompting this review. Be prepared to pay their hourly rate for their travel time plus a mileage rate. We were charged 3.5 hrs at $114/hr for an install of a water heater (that we supplied) and that included 30 minutes spent in his truck writing up the invoice. Then, for the boiler check which took him about 15 minutes, we were charged 1 hour at $130/hr. Total time from drive in to drive out of our driveway was 3 hrs, 48 minutes. Between the inflated labor costs and up-charging of supplies, consumables, mileage, and drive time, we paid over $800. Calling to question the charges only prompted rudeness. We will never use them again do not recommend to others.

The entire experience was exceptional. The staff were polite, knowledgeable, and timely. I strongly recommend this team over other local competitors. I have managed over several construction projects, and this team has been easier to work with, and open to smaller projects (less than the multi million dollar projects) than others, which made me feel valued. I will be calling them again for future projects. Thank you for everything Action team!

Had action mechanical come out to install water softening system. He let it drain into my sump pump area that had no sump pump in it because I was built on a hill. Of course didn’t find this out until I went to sell the house and the whole basement hole is full of water. Fast forward to a year ago. I forgot I had use them and had unpleasant experience, Heard they were about the only one that worked on mobile homes. Got a quote to replace a toilet and to fix a pop-up drain. Technician shows up finds out he hast to cover his shoes and throws a fit. I was totally taken off guard because I had never seen a grown man so pouty. after a while of him slamming things around, chipping the side of my drain in the meantime. Finally, I was like dude I don’t think action mechanical wants to replace my carpet. While he was there, I asked him to replace the toilet seal in the other bathroom and all the sudden he comes out and says the toilet is broken. Now I can’t say for sure, but possibly his slamming thing is around actually is what broke the toilet. So I had him put the old toilet in the other bathroom. Ended up charging me almost double what I was quoted. And then that night when my daughter got home and use the toilet, it was leaking. He came out the next day, supposedly to fix the toilet . still occasionally the toilet drips. So disgusted and satisfied with them And to top it off, I get a text to review them and I leave them a bad review and nobody ever called me to discuss the review that I had left

Best in town! These guys are not only friendly, but honest and reliable. We've had several instances over the past few years where we needed someone to come out for our furnace or water heater and they've always taken good care of us.
