A-1 Mechanical

A-1 Mechanical installed my gas fireplace during the construction of our home. We have not been able to use the fireplace since we moved in because it emits noxious fumes, sets off the fire alarms, and makes you sick. We have repeatedly reported the problem to A-1 Mechanical. Although the technicians have repeatedly observed the noxious fumes, their only advice was to continue running it until it burns the chemicals/paint off. Ten years later after numerous attempts to burn off the chemical/paint, and several inspections by A-1, they are telling us the same story and denying anything is wrong. Despite the technician's acknowledgment that the fireplace is emitting fumes, they are writing a false report to the manufacturer that there is nothing wrong with the unit. Apparently A-1 mechanical does not stand by their work or the equipment they install.

Technician suggested that I replace furnace. I suggested that he check the main relay, which he did reluctantly. That was the problem but I was charged off of a standard fee chart plus the cost of the trip, so I paid $460 for a relay. He did need to go pick up the relay and did a fine job, but the cost was extremely high for what I needed. Even if I did not pay for the relay, I would have had to pay the $89 trip fee.

Fast, got to the problem and fixed it within 4 hours of the call

Just purchased a new furnace from A1 Mechanical. Timely and courteous installation. My only complaint is that A1 installed the original duct work and I told sales rep that we would buy from them if they would help diagnose our cold air return. He overpromised, didn't follow through, Did not assert any effort, and did not even apologize. To be fair, past experience with service calls always went without a hitch, but new purchases... Make sure you get it in writing! I will not be using them again.

Don't hold your breath expecting service or professional results from A-1 Mechanical.

It worked out well. It was a minor repair. I would recommend them.

They are out yearly to check. I mean, they are out twice a year -- once to check the heating and once to check the air conditioning. The service is excellent, excellent. I can't grade them anything but A's. I have a yearly contract with them that covers both air conditioning and furnace. I do this yearly contact with them every year and by doing that I think it is a little bit less. It is $160 a year.

They performed the work for the agreed upon price on the agreed upon schedule. Did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. Friendly, easy to work with.

I thought they were good. They were pretty responsive. They were in and out in about 90 minutes. I believe there was just one worker. He left the area as they found it. They were prompt and did the work that was suppose to be done. I was very satisfied.

We've been happy with him all along. They're punctual and do their job. They're friendly service people.

They just charge a bit more when they come in after hours. I think that's a little unreasonable. I think the pricing was a little off.

I'd give them a B overall because of the demeanor of the technician. He was just not friendly. Price was very good. They were on time.
