I had serious concerns that the ac coil needed cleaning due to foul ammonia smell. The technician on site and his supervisor told me that it wasn't likely to be the coil causing the odor and it shouldn't need cleaning. This was in late July. Now the furnace died and the attached photos are what was found on the AC coils!!

Northern Comfort was out the very next day to remove my old water heater, and install a new one. The installer was very efficient, knowledgeable, courteous, and cleaned up thoroughly when the job was through. Total time in house was approximately 90 minutes. I'm very satisfied with the process. We’ve used Northern Comfort several times over the past 5 years for heating, A/C repairs and maintenance. Our most recent experience involved Denise (office) and Travis (tech). Both went above and beyond to provide fast, friendly, professional service at a fair price. We really appreciate family-owned, local companies like Northern Comfort.

Had a nasty freon leak (that another company found without even touching the system). North Comfort not only missed the leak, refilled the system and went on their merry way, but 10 days later wanted to hit my with another $800+ charge (on top of the originally $600) to do the same thing all over again, and this was not including fixing the problem. I called Davis Comfort Systems instead (highly recommend), their tech found the leak in under 3 minutes, and had a fix in place for us in less than 2 hours, with nearly all their rates being HALF of what Northern Comfort charges. Super friendly folks, but refused to stand behind their work (or lack thereof) - fir this very reason, I will never call them again, and recommend nobody else does. They may be great for heating or plumbing, but for A/C, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I had to have my main water moved as it was hidden under a sink and other lines. They then reinstalled it in an accessible place and added a line and special meter for my new outside irrigation. The outside pluming they installed is perfect. They took care of the permit and the city came at the end to inspect. I'm very happy. Wendell, Caleb and Jesse were wonderful. Jan 2026 Needed the services of a good plumber again. I didn't feel like it was an urgent problem, so Julie scheduled me for 1 and 1/2 days later. That day, Wendell called that he was finished early, but we arranged a time a bit later. In the area where the water had been on the floor, was carpeting, my dryer, washing machine, a laundry tub, a sump pump and back up battery, then all the laundry room items. Not to mention all the old pipes overhead from our 1965 build and a previous owners' adjustments. Wendell diagnosed the two problems quickly-and accurately. By himself, he took out the old one, showed me the different things wrong with the one I had. He then replaced it with a better one. He looked at the various laundry tub pipes likely causing difficulty. We chose a course of action that I feel good about for the slow laundry tub drain as well. Once again I can't say enough good things about Northern Comfort

Fast service, fair prices, honest people. I always appreciate a repair tech that will take the time to educate me on preventative measures or what potential issues might arise and I've gotten that with every interaction with Northern Comfort. They are our family's go-to!

Woke up cold before Northern Comfort was even open so left a message. Got a return call and service scheduled within the hour. They came with a part in stock and we had heat again. Very happy with their service!

I just got off the phone with Tim from Northern Comfort and unfortunately we were out of the service area to have them work with us on an issue we have going on with our system at home here, but that didn’t stop him from going above and beyond to talk with me about what we have going on here and make recommendations to me as well as get my number in case he has someone he can refer over to us to help us out. Very helpful and good customer service!

Our AC quit at the beginning of a heat wave and needed to be replaced. Although 3 weeks backlog in their installation schedule, Tim managed to squeeze us in a week later. Installation crew was on time, friendly, courteous, and professional. They replaced the condenser, tubing, evaporator coils and cleaned up in 3 1/2 hours. AC is working great. We highly recommend this company, we will use them again.

By far the best plumbing & HVAC business in the Mankato area. I manage a few properties and have tried using many others, but Northern Comfort exceeds them all by far. Very professional, friendly, reasonably priced, and easy to work with.

Leaking water heater in the middle of the night...help! In all, Northern Comfort did a great job! Prompt call back by Travis who helped me triage. In the am, office staff (Laurie and Denise) were great about getting someone out to the house that day. Jesse, plumbing manager, was so helpful and knowledgeable throughout the process. Price was reasonable for the new water heater. A huge thank you to all the staff there.

We hadn’t had hot water all weekend and Jesse was able to come out Monday and take a look at it within an hour of talking on the phone. Jesse was very friendly and knowledgeable. They had the part available same day and he came back a few hours later. Took about 20 minutes for him to get it fixed! We had hot water 45 minutes later. I am very pleased with the service and Jesse working to get our water heater fixed so fast!

I have used these guys multiple times. They're always available and pleasant. Their work is good and at a reasonable rate. I don't know what more you want from a plumber? I guess they've never seem to steer me into something I didn't need either. A few months ago I had them out because we had a sump pump fail and I asked the plumber if he thought I should put in a battery backup. He said that he certainly would if I wanted, but that the pump that he put in for me was significantly better than my previous pump and should be fine. I like honest advice from professionals and that's what I got.

Our experience with Northern Comfort was very positive. We are doing multiple home improvement projects: furnace, water heater and softener, new roof, etc. and Tim made sure that he worked with the plumbers to make sure it would all work out for everyone involved. It's tricky planning that many contractors coming in at the same time, but Tim and his crew were very knowledgeable and flexible. On time, on budget, and the new furnace works great.

I needed a new water heater and called many companies for estimates. I talked with Jesse Freeburg at Northern Comfort and the price/quality/warrenty were the best of all comparable water heaters. I ordered the water heater at 10am and he was installing it at my home at 11:30am! This was great. When I got home from work at 4 that day it was installed and my old one removed. He fixed the bended pipe work so it was all looking professional. He did a great job and best of all we have hot water once again! Thanks Jesse! I highly recommend you & Northern Comfort Inc.!!!!

My AC went out overnight. I called, talked to Lori, and within 60 minutes Travis the tech was at my house. He quickly diagnosed the issue, had the needed part in his truck, and within 30 minutes of his arrival my AC was up and running again. Everyone was very friendly and pleasant to work with.

Despite the bad news of needing a new furnace (it was 21 years old) these guys took care of us, replacing it without a heat disruption of more than a couple hours. Great service! Highly recommend.

At 6:00 we woke up chilly. Furnace was out the day before a major snowstorm is expected! By 9:00 they had come, diagnosed the issue, gotten the needed parts, and had our house warming up. Outstanding in every way!!!

Called yesterday at 3:30 to request service...expecting to be on a several day waiting list due to the hot weather. In an hours time a very helpful lady called me back stating they could make it to our house same day!!! 4 hours after my initial call the AC is repaired and our house is as cool as a cucumber again! Thank you!!!!

Beware. Overcharged for the shower unit, 50% markup. Took our copper pipe and fittings that we were going to use on another project and to top it off, broke the fiberglass tub base where the wall piece connects. Hope it never leaks. Inspect after the service before paying the bill!!!
