I can't attest to the service of the technicians at Gropp Heating Air & Electric as I had an absolutely miserable time just trying to even schedule with them. I was told that I needed to speak to someone else and they would call me back and they never did. Then, when I FINALLY got through to them 3 calls later throughout the course of the morning, I was promptly informed that Gropp doesn't even perform the service I needed anyways...

I recently had Gropp Heating, Air & Electric clean the ducts in my home, and the experience was very positive. Scheduling was straightforward, the technicians arrived on time, and they explained what they were doing throughout the process. The work was done carefully and efficiently, and I noticed an improvement in airflow afterward. Overall, I’m satisfied with the service and would use them again in the future.

People were friendly but never returned. We accepted a quote for a minimal job and heard nothing. After a month we called and they requoted us. Then nothing again. We waited another month and a half and finally decided to go with another company. There seems to be some disconnect between the office and the personnel. This, unfortunately, cost them our business.

I went in and asked for a quote on some electrical work, and Travis walked across the street immediately to my business and gave me a very reasonable quote. In a totally different situation the next day I ran out of gas in Garfield with no phone or wallet. I walked into the small bar in town and Travis was there and recognized me. He drove with me to the gas station and filled my truck up for me with no hesitation, helping me get home safe to Moscow in a very difficult situation. Travis is an incredibly kind and generous person. I highly recommend Gropp!

Gropp has been absolutely incredible over the last two winters. My 17 year old furnace has been having issues over the last few years. Gropp technicians have been friendly, and very professional. I’m a curious person and I tend to ask lots of questions (bother) professionals visiting my home. Each time they have visited they have answered all my questions and shared valuable knowledge. All of my issues have occurred when it was bitterly cold outside, and they somehow managed to get someone out to me the same day (even once when I was on standby). Considering how busy they are, I cannot believe it. Very reasonably pricing and everyone I have worked with in the office has been friendly, compassionate, thoughtful and really down to earth. I will not hesitate to request services from Gropp again. It seems like in this town, getting good service has become a chore. Gropp makes it an easy decision. I’m enjoying my new blower motor and am so thankful they were able to save me from the -10 degree F temperatures this evening. Go with Gropp. You won’t regret it.

I really appreciate Gropp's expertise and quick response. Unfortunately, I had an issue with my HVAC recently, but they diagnosed it quickly and will will have it resolved to my satisfaction as soon as the parts arrive. I couldn't ask for more in this situation.

As always, Gropp shines! ⭐ They always show up on time or early, great communication and do a good job. And their prices are always reasonable. They installed our new AC a few years ago and replaced a dead baseboard heater for us today.

These guys are absolutely amazing! We have had a couple issues with our furnace and James and Eric have been the absolute best. One of the issues was just a loose wire and Eric fixed it within minutes and charged basically nothing. They have both been very willing to teach and share their vast knowledge and I just couldn’t be happier with this company!

Very friendly service and they seem to know what they are talking about it if they don't they don't bluff. If you need your furnace cleaned and be sure to get it scheduled early as possible though, since fall means weeks of waiting. Pretty sure they have faster service for emergency maintenance, but it would cost more for obvious reasons. (Based on assumption)

I did not have a positive experience with Gropp. So potential customers can make more informed decisions on whom to hire, here is how it went: When the technician arrived (40 minutes late—though he did call me to tell me so), he eventually let me know that he didn’t know the particular heating system that we have (radiant in-floor) so he spent most of the hour at my house on the phone with someone who apparently did. As he was leaving, he said “if you have any future issues with this, you should ask for David, he knows these systems” (or something to that effect). Although I can’t fault the technician, I certainly can fault the people who planned to send him instead of the actual expert in that system. I had made it clear when setting up the appointment what the system was, yet they apparently didn’t think to send a person in possession of the needed expertise. Fast forward a week from the appointment and I received a bill for 1.75 hours of work. Because the technician had only spent an hour at my house, I reached out to Gropp to figure out how they were billing me. It seemed like a simple matter to clear up, but it took calling three times before I was finally told the owner would call me back to give me an answer. The owner explained to me that the extra 45 minutes I was billed was for travel time (I live 12 minutes from their office) and for filling out paperwork. That was news to me. I told her nobody let me know that this was how they billed. She responded “did you ask?” No, the burden is on the company to be transparent in their billing. Her incredulous response was “Do you expect us to tell that to every single customer?” Yes, in fact I do. In the course of my conversation with the owner, she was condescending and accusatory, somehow expecting me to have native understanding of the (allegedly) standard billing practices of plumbing companies. Is it standard to send someone to a job without expertise so they are forced to spend extra time on the phone with someone who does have the expertise? Sounds like a good way to inflate billable hours. Is it standard to charge for time filling out paperwork in addition to drive time? Again, sounds like a way to inflate billable hours. I’m accustomed to paying people directly upon the completion of work, not having them drive away, apparently still “on the clock.” In the end, the owner relented to take 15 minutes off the billable time. I think that’s a poor substitute for transparency and decent customer service.

As a local business owner, I tried to sell locally to Gropp. I thought I had a chance of at least having a conversation, since a very active member of the Moscow city council put me in direct contact with the owner. Oddly, I never received a reply. The staff at the front desk kindly took my card, but it was evident that walk-ins were not welcome either. So now I'm very curious, how would you go about trying to sell to this company? What should I have done differently?

I am SO grateful for this company. They are AMAZING! Our A/C went out in the heat wave and they worked their tails off to get out and save my pregnant wife from the heat. They are our heroes! Special shout out to Dave and the other 4 techs for working 12 hr days repeatedly to help so many!

Our family has come home to both a frigid cold home, and a hot sweltering home. A quick call to Gropp Electric and they were on site fixing the problem without delay AND they stayed until the job was COMPLETE. I will not hesitate to call again and refer my friends and family to their business. Trustworthy, knowledgable and available! Thank you!

Just moved to the area. Gropp has serviced my furnace, updated and replaced/repaired some previous (and questionable) electrical work. They are knowledgeable, courteous and dependable. I would highly recommend them.

Great company. Hired them to do some electrical work at U of I and they did fantastic. It looked neat and they had me inspect their work after. Its clear these guys take pride in their trade.

Hired for an HVAC inspection. Very friendly, professional, and honest. Offered several ways to keep my old system operational and avoid the cost of replacement. I trust this business.

Great, friendly service and the right skills to get you up and running again quickly. Gropp saved the day (again)!!

The owner finally called me back and he fixed the problem. The original repair was done very well, but it was highly frustrating that it took 4 months for the problem to get settled. Fortunately, the company did make good on their work.
