We spent thousands of dollars installing two GeneralAire dehumidifying units from General Filters. Both failed within two years, despite a 5-year manufacturer warranty. Yet, getting a replacement has been nearly impossible. After countless ignored calls and emails to Matthew W., we finally received a vague email with a shipping address—no prepaid label, no return instructions. We’re now expected to dismantle and ship units that each weigh hundreds of pounds, all at our own expense. This is unreasonable and not what a warranty should look like. We sent clear images showing the failures, which they acknowledged, yet they still demand we ship the entire units back for inspection before even considering a replacement. This is not how a reputable company should operate. To make matters worse, our HVAC installer told us they no longer work with this brand due to repeated issues just like ours. We had no idea these units were so prone to failure. We're disappointed in both the manufacturer and the installer who recommended them. Terrible product, shameful service. Avoid General Filters at all costs.

I have tried for four months to request warranty support with zero success. I have spoken to a gentleman name Matthew (ext 208) FOUR separate. Each time he assured me that it’s covered under the warranty and he was shipping the necessary parts. Each time he assured me that an email with the tracking number would be forthcoming. Each time I never received the tracking number nor the necessary parts. This has been exasperating. I called my installer and they told me they stopped using General Filter because their equipment is bad and they do NOT stand behind their warranty. I’ve been more than patient and continue to get the runaround. Today I filed a BBB complaint. Tomorrow I am filing similar complaints on their various social media pages and will file a complaint with the Michigan Department of Consumer Protection. General Filters may not stand behind my purchase but at least I can prevent them from taking advantage of other customers.

I had an issue with an DH-70 dehumidifier that was installed by a contractor in my house. I called and spoke to a tech support guy that sent me a bag of replacement parts. I called and talked through the repair with Johnathan. Just handy enough to be dangerous, I was able to replace parts until the dehumidifier worked again. It's not every day you get good support like that. It's also not every day you are able to work on a device that is actually serviceable. I really appreciate both. Thanks, and give those guys down in tech support a raise!

I had a problem recently with an older humidifier solenoid valve and when I showed the part to a technician there he and the receptionist were extremely helpful in handling this problem for me. I've had a General humidifier that was very good and I've also bought media pads from them and they're a good company to deal with.

Terrible customer service. Won’t return calls or emails when messages are left. Don’t buy a mega dry dehumidifier or you will be hung out to dry.
