I called Consumers Energy to move a service to my name after a tenant moved out. On the day I called the electricity was turned off, no notice given. I received an email asking to send 2 forms of ids and a prove of ownership of the house. Unfortunately the link to upload the documents did not work. So I was told to come to the office with documents between 8-4p - I do work during a day - this option did not work, another option was to fax documents but the documents had to be notarized! I did this and sent them on Friday morning 9/5. I followed up the same day and was told it takes 2-3 business day to verify information and turn on electricity. Today - 4 business day still no electricity, when I called your office I was told that my request will be expedite. Not sure how it works, supposed to take 2-3 business days. You would expedite so it takes less than normal time. And it takes so many days to verify information that was already notarized. In a meantime no electricity, house requires renovations to put it back on the market. I lost the whole week of work and had to reschedule my contractors. Seems that your company is too big to care about the single customer and a need to have electricity in the house. I have a doubt if you a consumer’s energy. What about simplifying the whole process.

Can take a few days to verify my paperwork saying I own my home to turn on my power? Your system is the reason I have no power in my home in winter.

They are nothing but money hungry and every chance they get they increase their prices. All I’m doing is working to just pay them. People are already struggling but let’s keep raising prices, makes no sense but ok.

This is the trashiest electric company. They tell you to go green while they destroy ecosystems with their gas powered excavating equipment. These images were taken at Secchia Meadows across from Millennium Park. Since Consumers Energy has their stupid electric towers running through the park, they are given the ‘right of way’ to destroy, annihilate, and remove any tree or plant that would obstruct their access to the towers. They went way beyond the area where they were allowed to cut down on either side of the tower as you can see by the following photos. I called to complain that they destroyed an area where deer, rabbits, birds, woodchucks, butterflies, weasels, raccoons, possums, and foxes lived but they could care less. They are 100% about $$$$ over the environment. They claim to plant trees but clearly not where they destroyed everything that was there. Oh, I don’t want to forget and mention that the ecosystem they destroyed provided food to the bald eagles, which is a federally protected bird.

Hasnt fixed my power in 3 DAYS. They fixed the rest of my apartment complex and left my building in the dark, now theyre calling for freezing rain tonight. If you arent gonna fix it I want my money back

My entire neighborhood has been out of power for over 3 days now. Consumers energy refuse to work their crew on the weekends and refuse to pay them overtime. They rather have the people sit in the dark until business hours on Monday. The complete monopolization of the power sector here in Michigan is UNLAWFUL. We should be able to have the ability to switch to a more reliable provider what will not leave us in the dark. THEY HAVE TO GO!!!!

I have never had an issue with customer service with this company and I can't say that for many. They've always worked with me, their customer service representatives have always been polite and professional and helped me with whatever I have needed. I have had so many negative experiences with the other utility companies I get no choice in the matter with that they truly stand out in that regard. Rated down 1 star just because the cost of electricity in Michigan has gotten pretty high in the last 5 years. So I dont like the price I pay but what can you do? Overall Im not sure why the hate in the other reviews, maybe y'all called with an attitude and got one in return?

I think they do a great job fixing power outages and keeping us informed of restoration times. I feel the phone menu is easy to use. I am very satisfied and would never change my service. Very prompt service with emergencies and questions.

Arbitrarily decided to move our power pole from between 3 houses to behind our garage. Now saying we must move our shed at our expense! The power serves many homes. Why are we responsible to have our property destroyed???

They randomly threw a convenience fee for accepting payments, so I call and they say they are going green but the fee won't apply if I mail in a check? I'd kill myself if I was the type of person to work for such a pathetic company

Still waiting for outage to be fix. They change it from being fix at 11pm to now 1:30am. Probably going to be changed again. Seriously can't we get a better energy company.? They should being doing better during covid19 times.

The energy bill has always been in the higher side ($50-60) a month even though I have always been extremely conservative when it comes to energy consumption (i.e. lights off, no heater, etc.). I just got a bill that charged +$200 with a single day in February top $15. I looked at my coworkers bill -- averaging $0.6 a day throughout the February. Clearly something isn't right, but they flat out denied any inaccuracy or skepticism. Total BS.

I've thoroughly enjoyed doing business with these guys! Everytime I have had to call them for something, each person I talked to was very pleasant and was very informational. They made transitioning into an apartment to a home easy. Thanks guys
